Participants needed for flu vaccination study

The purpose of this study is to test a vaccine that is made to protect against the A/H7N9 flu virus. We will gather information to see if it is safe, well tolerated, and provides an immune response. We will also test your immune (germ-fighting) responses. Vaccines can protect you from getting sick when you are exposed to the flu by helping the body to make antibodies that fight infection. This A/H7N9 study vaccine is made from an inactivated flu virus. It cannot give you the flu. We will give the vaccine with or without an adjuvant called MF59. You will be in the study for about 13 months with a total of 7 scheduled clinic visits, including 1 optional screening visit, 2 study vaccine injections, and 4 follow-up clinic visits. You will have 6 blood draws – the first 5 draws are within the first 5 to 6 weeks of the study. You will also have 5 scheduled phone calls. To find out if you are eligible, please call 205-934-6777 or 205-996-4099 or email us at avrc@uabmc.edu
