Persons with a spinal cord injury sustained within 5 years are invited to participate in the coach-guided videoconferencing acceptance and commitment therapy study.

We are conducting a research project to examine effects of a coach-guided videoconferencing acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) program on improving psychological health (e.g., depressive symptoms) in persons with a spinal cord injury sustained within 5 years. You may qualify for the study if you are adults (age 18 or over) who had a traumatic or non-traumatic spinal cord injury within 5 years and have a web-enabled device (a computer/laptop, a smartphone, or a tablet PC) with the internet access at home. This study will involve completion of questionnaires three times and 8 weekly videoconferencing sessions by the ACT coach if you are assigned to the ACT group. Participants will be compensation at study completion (up to $215 as the ACT group). For questions and more information, contact Jessica Hawkins at jshawkins@uabmc.edu or 205-975-2882.
