The UAB Division of Rheumatology and Immunology is conducting a study to research the effects of Rheumatoid Arthritis on muscle strength and insulin. To qualify, you must be between the ages of 35 and 65, not be diagnosed with diabetes or any other illness that may impair evaluation of study outcomes, and do not engage in a strength training program or vigorous exercise. All participants will be required to come to UAB for testing on 3 or more occasions and qualified RA participants will receive a 15-week regimen of the study drug. There is no charge for participation and all participants will receive compensation. For more information, and to see if you might be eligible to join, call (205) 934-4021.
The Neuroinflammation, Pain & Fatigue Lab is looking for women ages 18-65 diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) for a 2-hour brain imaging study. The study investigates whether patients with RA have increased brain temperature compared to healthy people. We are looking for adults who are receiving treatment but are experiencing continued symptoms related to fatigue. We will obtain magnetic resonance images (MRI) of your brain for one hour. The brain scans are non-invasive and do not involve exposure to radiation or injection of contrast agents. There will also be questionnaires and a short physical exam. You will be paid $150 for completing the session. If interested, please contact Joanne Lin at 205-530-8004, or jclin@uab.edu to see if you are eligible.
