Are you currently pregnant? If you are 14 to 39 years of age, less than 18 weeks pregnant, and planning to deliver at UAB, you may be eligible for our education based study. This study focuses on learning about healthy behaviors and how to make positive changes that could lead to a healthier pregnancy for both you and your baby. There are four study visits spread out over 13 weeks during pregnancy and one brief post-delivery visit where study staff visit participants in the post-partum unit. Participation includes a one-on-one education session, answering several questionnaires, and collecting lab work, including blood, mouth swabs & self-collected urine samples, and vaginal swabs. Also, three times during the study, participants are given a packet to collect two swabs at home and mail them in. Participants are compensated $200 for completing all study visits and specimens. You may be eligible to participate in a research study: If you are a healthy female, between age of 18-50, still having a regular menstrual cycle & you are NOT on hormonal birth control (birth control pills or shots (i.e. Depo shot) or IUD, like Mirena). And, if you are willing to undergo an endometrial biopsy procedure. Participants will be compensated total of $200. Only requires 2 visits. Women 18 years and older who are currently experiencing any vaginal symptoms are invited to participate in a research study evaluation a new diagnostic test for bacterial vaginosis and vaginal yeast infection. Do you have Urinary Leakage? If you are eligible (women 65 years or older), you will take part in a 12-week hip muscle exercise program, individualized sessions taught by a licensed physical therapist specialized in hip strength. Do you experience urine leakage with a strong and sudden urge and you leak before reaching the toilet? You may be eligible to participate in this important study if you are female and 21 years of age or older, if you are experiencing urine leakage with the feeling of urgency, coughing, sneezing, or laughing. UAB's Urogynecology and Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery is conducting a 3 month at-home non-invasive lower leg stimulation study. You may be eligible if you are female and 18 years of age and older, have a history of chronic Bowel Leakage for at least 6 months, and have tried at least 2 treatments, including medications, diet, and pelvic exercises. Compensation will be provided. You could be eligible to participate if you are 18 or older and a premenopausal female. Also, If you have been diagnosed with endometriosis, and are experiencing pain associated with endometriosis. Heterosexual sexually active women ages 18-45 needed for study exploring how bacterial vaginosis (BV), the most common vaginal infection, occurs in women. If eligible, the study involves an anonymous survey, STD testing, and completion of twice-daily sexual/reproductive diaries, and self-collection of 3 twice daily vaginal swabs over an 8 week time period. Volunteers will be compensated $20 for screening, $25 for the enrollment visit, $20/week for drop-off of daily diaries and specimens (weeks 1-7), and $50 for the final weekly drop-off (week 8).
