Throughout the fall semester, UAB’s Institute of Human Rights (IHR) will host a number of world leaders in human rights to discuss topics that range from freedom of speech to the global refugee crisis to the #MeToo movement.
Next up — the UAB Students for Human Rights Club will host a town hall, For Freedoms Alabama, 6-8 p.m Sept. 20 in Hill Student Center Ballrooms C and D. The forum will highlight the significance of freedoms of speech, of worship, from want and from fear. The event is cosponsored with the For Freedom 50 State Coalition.
The Alabama Inclusive, Healthy Communities Summit is coming to the UAB Alumni House noon-4 p.m. Sept. 24 and 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Sept. 25. The conference will address the fundamentals of walkability — with walkability expert Mark Fenton — and what it takes to create connected, inclusive and healthy communities that are safe for all ages and abilities.
