colon on the green streamUAB Employee Wellness Director Anna Threadcraft and Blaze explored the inflatable organ at Colon on the Green last year.This March, UAB Employee Wellness is making it easy for employees to learn about colon health while getting outside and being active, with activities such as the second annual Colon on the Green event, scavenger hunts, Zumba classes and lunch-and-learns.

Come to the Campus Green 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday for Colon on the Green, featuring a 30-foot inflatable, interactive, anatomically correct colon employees can explore, raffles, photo booths and music from BlazeRadio.

“With early detection, colorectal cancer is one of the most preventable and treatable cancers, and this Colon on the Green event is a fun and engaging way to raise awareness,” said UAB Employee Wellness Director Anna Threadcraft.

In 2016, UAB Health System CEO William Ferniany, Ph.D., signed the American Cancer Society’s National Colorectal Cancer Roundtable initiative 80% by 2018 and committed to the shared goal of getting 80 percent of adults ages 50 and older screened for colorectal cancer.
