For the eighth year, UAB is recognized by the National Arbor Day Foundation for its work to nurture more than 4,400 healthy trees and engage students and employees in conservation. Radio Paging now is offering a variety of portable and stationary two-way radios, all of which comply with UAB’s security standards and can help employees communicate more effectively across campus during emergency events such as fire or inclement weather.

The new and improved Unity Park, the green space at the corner of University Boulevard and 18th Street South adjacent to the School of Nursing, is open for business, with multiple new seating areas and a lawn for outdoor gatherings or instruction.

Classes will begin this fall in the new $76 million, 138,842-square-foot South Science Hall and East Science Hall facilities, part of the Science and Engineering Complex. Take a look through the new buildings, which house faculty and staff offices, classrooms, collaboration rooms and labs.

Two agreements between UAB Libraries and Wiley and Cambridge University Press will enable university-affiliated authors to publish open access at no cost in more than 2,000 journals.

UAB continues to implement its Campus Master Plan through new facilities and renovations to enhance instruction, research, technology and student life. Some are under construction and others are in planning stages; these include an update to the Unity Park green space, seven new buildings and a new parking deck.

Micromobility vehicles like rentable electric scooters and bikes make getting across campus quickly a breeze. But parking them improperly can prevent Blazers from accessing sidewalks, ramps, accessible doorways and more, according to Disability Support Services.
