Haibin Ning, Ph.D., a professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, has won the 2013 Professor of the Year Award from the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) International for excellence in teaching international testing standards to his undergraduate and graduate students.
Ning, who manages UAB’s advanced materials testing and processing lab and conducts research on fiber-reinforced composite materials, also has worked on several government- and industry-sponsored projects and contributed to applications related to mass transit, aviation defense, sports equipment and personal protection.
The ASTM International award recognizes the contributions of educators who promote understanding of its standards used by industries and governments around the world.
