Rev. Malcolm Marler, director of Pastoral Care at UAB Hospital, will be ordained as an Episcopal priest at 4 p.m. Jan. 15 in UAB Hospital's North Pavilion Atrium. The public is invited.
“UAB Hospital is my parish,” said Marler. ”It is the place where we, as chaplains, meet people where they are regardless of faith background in some of the most difficult times of their lives.
"I also hope it will be an opportunity for others to learn more about the role of chaplaincy as a member of the interdisciplinary medical team that offers compassion and healing.”
Marler has been a chaplain at UAB since 1994 — working at The 1917 Clinic at UAB until 2009 — and director of Pastoral Care since 2009.
