“UAB’s new partnership with ZipCar provides students and employees — especially those without a vehicle on campus — with an affordable, easy-to-use transportation option,” said Chris Clifford, associate vice president for Business and Auxiliary Services. “We believe the program will reduce the need for cars on campus and contribute to UAB’s sustainability efforts.”

“We hope the program will reduce the need for cars on campus and contribute to our sustainability efforts.”

The annual membership fee for employees and students is $15 for the first year and $25 per year afterward. The hourly rate starts at $7.50, daily $69 and overnight $35. The hourly rate is all-inclusive; each car comes with a prepaid fuel card. The first 180 miles are free, but users are charged $0.20 for every mile exceeding that limit.
