SOM communications team made furry friends at the humane society

Take a glance around your office or clinic and you’ll find colleagues who make the world better, even outside their work at UAB.

The Greater Birmingham Humane Society is the largest humane society in Alabama, so it can never have too many volunteers. In April, the UAB School of Medicine communications team did their part to meet that need, spending a half-day working at the shelter.

  • SOM Comms Stream
  • From left to right, Jane Longshore, Brit Blalock, Sara Davies, Kristin Farmer, Emily Henagan, Paige Dorman and Tyler Ferguson volunteered by walking dogs and socializing with cats at the GBHS.

The UAB Reporter wants to know how people in your unit volunteer — whether it’s at a local nonprofit or in a clinic across the world. Submit a publicity request with the details and send a group selfie to reporter@uab.edu for a chance to be featured in Behind the Scenes.
