Solomon to lead ADA compliance

Solomon, who is director of Disability Support Services, has more than 14 years experience in higher education and an extensive knowledge of disability compliance mandates. In this role she has been an effective advocate for the students and a reliable consultation resource for faculty and staff

In her new role, Solomon will be the principal planning coordinator for UAB programs, policies and procedures as they relate to compliance and promotion of opportunities for its students with disabilities. She will work to ensure appropriate processes are in place to provide a prompt and equitable resolution of complaints and inquiries from students and the public regarding compliance with the ADA, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and other applicable federal and state laws regarding discrimination on the basis of disability.

Solomon also will conduct investigations and make final determinations regarding allegations of discrimination and non-compliance under the ADA and other applicable federal and state laws regarding discrimination of students on the basis of disability.
