The UAB Epilepsy Center is looking for participants aged 15 and older for a brain imaging study. Eligible individuals will have psychogenic non-epileptic seizures (PNES) without co-morbid epilepsy. The study involves one visit at UAB Highlands Hospital and will last up to 2.5 hours. Participants will undergo a brain MRI, complete questionnaires, and provide a small amount of blood. Do you have pain in one or both of your knees on most days? If so, you may qualify for a research study being conducted at the University of Alabama Birmingham. We are seeking people between 45 and 85 years of age to participate in a study of brain and breathing treatments for arthritis pain. The study involves seven visits over a three-week period to the study center at the University of Alabama Birmingham, where clinical tests and brain stimulation treatment will be done, along with brain scanning. The Neuroinflammation, Pain, and Fatigue Lab is looking for women with relapsing-remitting Multiple Sclerosis ages 18-65 for a brain imaging study. The study includes a phone interview and two visits to UAB hospital: one screening visit including blood draws, and one imaging visit, during which we will acquire Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and Magnetic Resonance Images (MRI) of your brain for one hour. PET imaging involves exposure to a small amount of radiation. There will also be questionnaires. You will be paid $400 for completing the study. The purpose of the study is to investigate whether patients with multiple sclerosis have increased brain inflammation compared to healthy people. Get involved in a research study that aims to understand how chronic pain from knee osteoarthritis may change learning. We are looking for adults aged 40-65 with knee pain due to osteoarthritis who are willing to have their brains scanned during a learning procedure. The commitment to this study will last approximately 2 hours and include one telephone screen and one visit to UAB where you will fill out questionnaires and have your brain scanned with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) during a learning task. If you are eligible to participate in this study, you will receive up to $50. We are also recruiting healthy controls with no chronic pain. Healthy individuals ages 13 to 19 needed for brain imaging (MRI) study. The study includes two 2-hour sessions, one of which will include a 1-hour MRI scan. Researchers from the UAB Epilepsy Center are looking for healthy adults to participate in an NIH funded research study using brain imaging. Participants who are 18 years or older, speak English as the primary language, in good general health with no history of neurological or psychiatric illness are needed. The study involves 1-2 visits to UAB Hospital Highlands and 1 visit to Auburn University. Financial compensation of $300 plus mileage to travel to Auburn will be provided.
