Participants between the ages of 65-89, and individuals diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease between the ages of 45-89 are needed for a research study on walking. This study is being done to assess how well individuals can modify walking patterns. If you qualify, we anticipate that your participation in the study will span a single study visit, with a total time commitment of 3 hours. You will be compensated for your time. The purpose of the SCIPE study is to examine two 8-week remotely delivered exercise interventions: Movement-to-Music, and Standard Exercise Training. Enrolled participants will be randomized into one of three groups: M2M, SET, or attention control. The primary goal of this study is to examine changes in physical activity levels after the 8-week M2M and SET interventions. We hypothesize that M2M and SET participants will have significant increases in physical activity, sleep quality, quality of life, and decreases in pain compared to the Attention Control group after the 8-week intervention. The secondary aim is to examine the effects of the M2M and SET interventions on health and quality of life outcomes. Exercise enjoyment in M2M and SET participants will also be explored. The tertiary aim is to evaluate the demographic, clinical, and psychosocial variables of two participant groups: 1) compliant participants who completed ≥ 50% of the intervention, and 2) non-compliant participants who completed post-testing but only 50% of the intervention, or did not complete post-testing. The SCIPE study will take place entirely online. The exercise program will be delivered to you in a video format, so you can exercise anywhere that is convenient for you. The ROME study is designed to discover how exercise affects the gut microbiome and fatigue in breast cancer survivors. This study includes 10 weeks of supervised, individual exercise sessions with exercise specialists. The study is funded by the National Cancer Institute. Participants must be between the ages of 18 and 70 with a history of stage I, II or III breast cancer within the last five years. Participants needed for the ACES Trial - Antihypertensives Combined with Exercise for Seniors with Hypertension. This is a randomized, controlled trial (RCT) to determine if choice of antihypertensive medication influences changes in functional status and other cardiovascular risk factors among older persons with hypertension. Sedentary men and women > 60 years of age with functional limitations and hypertension will be recruited from two sites to participate in a longitudinal intervention trial. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of three first-line antihypertensive agents and participate in a structured aerobic exercise intervention. This study is expected to differentiate beneficial effects of three FDA-approved antihypertensive medications on established and emerging cardiovascular risk factors in a clinically-relevant population. Are you a breast cancer survivor having difficulty walking? Do you have any lower-body pain that is restricting your mobility? If so, you may be interested in taking part in an exercise training intervention. UAB researchers are looking for overweight women  - age 18-70 with a body mass index between 30-45 kg/m2 - with a history of breast cancer to participate in a novel exercise training study. Volunteers will be asked to attend two assessment sessions: an initial assessment and after 8 weeks of exercise to collect information about your health status. Further eligibility screening will be conducted by telephone. Volunteers must reside in or near Jefferson County. The study will evaluate a novel exercise training strategy designed to mimic exercise at higher altitude to support improved health and mobility among breast cancer survivors. Contact Dr. Stephen J. This study will examine the effectiveness of a group exercise class on the health and function adults age 18-65 with a history of stroke. You will be randomly assigned to one of two groups; Movement2Music or a waitlist group who will complete a home-based exercise intervention.
