We are looking for individuals with prediabetes to participate in a 16-week weight loss program. Qualified participants will receive weekly group-based Zoom weight management classes with a health coach in addition to one-on-one nutrition counseling sessions on time-restricted eating or exercise counseling. Participants will also receive free lab work, fitness testing, body composition analysis, and weight/activity monitoring devices for the period of the study. To qualify for this study you should: 1) be aged 18-75, have BMI of 27, and 3) be willing to participate in weekly weight loss classes via Zoom and attend 3 in-person study visits at UAB Highlands Family and Community Medicine Clinic (60-90 minutes each). CAN TAKING A CAPSULE BEFORE MEALS HELP YOU LOSE WEIGHT? WEIGHT LOSS RESEARCH STUDY For OVERWEIGHT MEN and WOMEN At UAB The purpose of the CAPSULE research study is to test weight loss effect of a hydrogel capsule, an orally taken pill that may create a continuing sense of fullness. Qualified participants will receive dietary and activity counseling sessions, as well as medical exams, lab work, and weight monitoring in the research clinic and by telehealth. This study requires a twenty-eight-week commitment. To qualify for this study, you should: • Be 18 years or older • Have a BMI between 27 – 40 • Not have any other significant illness or disease • Have had previous unsuccessful attempts to lose weight • Smartphone user Compensation of up to $525 is offered for the completion of this study. Do you have Type 2 Diabetes? Are you 18 years or older? Not currently taking Insulin? Are you currently being treated with stable doses of daily or weekly GLP-1 receptor agonist? This 52 week research study is seeking qualified participants to help compare the efficacy and safety of once weekly IcoSema and once weekly semaglutide. Qualified participants will receive study drug free of charge and may be compensated for time and travel. The treatment can be with or without any of the following anti-diabetic drugs with stable doses: Metformin, Sulfonylureasa , Meglitinides (glinides), DPP-4 inhibitors, Sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 inhibitors, Alpha-glucosidase-inhibitors, and Thiazolidinediones. Are you interested in managing your weight? Men and women age 19-75 whose body mass index (BMI) range from 30-50 are needed for SWOP, a two-year study investigating the effects of daily self-weighing. Some participants will be asked to weigh themselves daily for two years using the study-provided scale that will pair with the participant's own smartphone. All participants will be asked to complete brief visits at UAB every 6 months (a total of five visits). Compensation provided. If you are 18-60 years old, have a BMI greater than or equal to 27 and do not have a history of binge-eating disorder, you may be eligible to participate. If eligible, you will receive up to $60 in compensation. This is a 4-visit, IRB-approved study sponsored by the UAB Department of Psychology, investigating a lifestyle weight-loss method that does not use dieting, exercise or active drugs. The purpose of the Feed Me Study is to examine the naturally occurring bacteria in the gut of women and the impact these bacteria may have on weight loss. We are looking for women who are non-Hispanic black or non-Hispanic white. Generally healthy ages 19-65 and currently overweight. Participation involves eating study-provided meals only for 4 weeks, completing questionnaires, basic body measurements, and providing stool and blood samples. We are seeking volunteers with Type 2 Diabetes for a weight loss research study looking at the role of dietary protein in weight loss and the remission of type 2 diabetes. The study will last approximately 12 months. Participants will participate in a 16 week State of Slim group weight loss program and a 36 week State of Slim Next Steps weight loss maintenance program, with body composition scans and lab work at no charge. Participants will receive monetary stipends of $300 to reimburse for time and travel to study classes and study visits. You may qualify for this weight loss research study if you are nonvegetarian, 18 years of age or older, has Type 2 Diabetes diagnosed within the last 6 years, are overweight or obese with a BMI greater than or equal to 27. Must be willing to participate in weekly group weight loss classes for 16 weeks, bi-weekly weight loss maintenance classes for 36 weeks, and attend four study visits over 12 months at the Lakeshore Foundation Campus. UAB researchers are conducting a study to investigate how daily consumption of types of foods influences body weight and composition, and other outcomes related to risk of certain diseases. If you are ages 18-50 you may be eligible to participate. Participation involves attending 5 study visits, consuming a food item daily for 30 days, and acquiring measures related to body weight, body composition and glucose metabolism.
