Healthy LifeDuring the past several years, participants in the Employee Wellness free health screenings received snapshots of their health status and some earned reductions in insurance premiums. But once employees have that information, what comes next?

“Now that employees have had a chance to know their numbers, it’s time to know what to do about them,” said Anna Threadcraft, director of UAB Employee Wellness.

Employee Wellness is beginning a series of targeted health classes focused on diabetes, heart health and weight-management to help employees learn to make healthy changes in their lives both in and outside the workplace.

Classes will be held 11:45 a.m.-12:45 p.m. in Medical Towers Room 419A. Instructors include Threadcraft, who is a registered dietitian and nutritionist; Adam Britt, nutritionist and operations manager with UAB HealthSmart; and Julie Sears, wellness nurse and certified diabetes educator with HealthSmart.

Space is limited, so register online at uab.edu/wellscreens. All employees are welcome and can bring lunch to class.
