You may be eligible to participate in a research study about the effect of glucose on a protein in your blood. This protein is related to heart disease. Eligible participants must be healthy men and women, African-American and Caucasians and have no history of elevated blood pressure, diabetes, heart or kidney problems. To join the study you must: be age 50 or older; have type 2 diabetes and certain kinds of heart disease or stroke; and be able to attend 17 clinic visits and answer 9 phone contacts over a three-year trial period.
