The UAB School of Public Health seeks an associate dean for academic and strategic programs to be responsible for the organization and coordination of all academic programs and for strategic management of internal and external programs. This includes oversight of human resources, faculty affairs, student services, information services, alumni relations and representing the school on behalf of the dean when required.

The associate dean also is responsible for operational oversight of the dean’s office, assuring the day-to-day integrity of its various activities, and is the primary advisor to the dean for academic and strategic planning, the lead implementer of all approved initiatives and a liaison between the dean’s office and the department chairs.

This position requires a professional with high performance standards, a proven ability to manage complex organizations, academic experience and an enthusiasm and proven track record for organizational innovation and creativity.

The successful candidate is expected to participate in relevant programs and committees for the Association of Schools of Public Health, American Public Health Association and other important state and local organizations. A terminal degree (e.g. Ph.D., D.P.H., M.D., J.D.) is required in addition to a minimum five to seven years experience in a key leadership role. Applicants are expected to have outstanding interpersonal and written communication skills, be customer-service oriented, analytical and solutions-oriented.
