All OSP training sessions can be attended virtually through Zoom, so you can attend from anywhere.

How to Register: You will register in the Campus LMS for all OSP courses. See below for specific instructions.

How to Access the Zoom Session: When you are ready to attend the session, in the “My Courses and Assignments” area of the LMS, you will find the Link to Join the Webinar appear at the time the session is scheduled to begin.

Note: A Zoom account is not required to attend a meeting. Anyone can join a meeting using the Zoom mobile apps or desktop applications for Windows and Mac. For information on how to use Zoom and the desktop applications or mobile apps, please see the links below:
Also note that if you do not have a computer speaker and/or earbuds/headphones, you can call in with your phone to hear the audio.

To attend any of these training sessions, registration is required in the UAB Campus Learning System. You can find courses by doing the following:

  1. From welcome screen, scroll down to Research/Regulatory/Compliance courses and click “See Content,” and
  2. Scroll down to Office of Sponsored Programs catalog where you can browse and enroll in courses.

​This session gives an overview of the submission process for JIT/OS documentation. Some of the topics we will cover include: when to upload JIT/OS information, what information is required, where to upload JIT/OS information, how to upload documentation, when/how to notify OSP that JIT/OS is ready for submission.

NIH ASSIST Single-Project Proposal Process

This training course demonstrates how to use the NIH ASSIST system to initiate and prepare a single-project proposal. This session gives participants an overview of the process including requirements for using ASSIST, how to initiate and prepare a proposal, how to add optional forms, how to preview an application, and how to validate an application. After completing this course, participants can also attend follow-up courses including a lab to practice using ASSIST and NIH ASSIST Multi-Project Proposal Process.

NIH ASSIST Multi-Project Proposal Process

This course demonstrates how to use the NIH ASSIST system to initiate and prepare a multi-project proposal. This session is a follow-up course to the NIH ASSIST Single-Project Proposal Process introductory course that is also offered. This session gives participants an overview of how to prepare a multi-project proposal in ASSIST. We also offer a hands-on workshop in a computer lab where participants can practice working on a multi-project proposal after completing this course.

Industry-Sponsored Budgeting Template

At this session, you can learn to use the Total Cost Budget Template created for industry-sponsored projects (not clinical trials). This template is expected to be the most commonly used option, which converts the source data (internal budget) to fully burdened cost descriptions (i.e., F&A costs are allocated and reflected in each category to arrive at the research rate).
