Master of Science in Nutrition Sciences | Research Track

MS Nutrition Sciences 2With a Master of Science in Nutrition Science with a Research Track from UAB you will be prepared for a career in dietary research and education. You will learn the metabolic and biochemical basis for nutritional care while being involved in basic or applied nutrition research with an assigned Faculty Research Mentor. Potential research areas include pediatrics, health education, exercise science or community nutrition, among others. This program culminates in a formal presentation of your proposed research project, which will prepare you for practice or entry into a PhD in Nutritional Sciences program. Admissions Requirements

  • Undergraduate overall GPA 3.0
  • GRE (verbal + quantitative) 300 (completed within the past five years)
  • BS degree in a recognized field of biological, physical, chemical, agricultural, or engineering science from an accredited university is preferred
  • International students: TOEFL 80 (internet version) and IELTS 6.0

Career Paths and Job Opportunities

Employment of dietitians and nutritionists is projected to grow 15 percent from 2016 to 2026, much faster than the average for all occupations. More dietitians and nutritionists will be needed to provide care for patients with various medical conditions and to advise people who want to improve their overall health.
