Master of Science in Health Informatics

digital divide4bHealth Informatics is the formal study of the use of technology to collect, manage, exchange, analyze, use and store clinical and administrative information in a healthcare setting.

A clear health informatics strategy helps organizations improve the quality of patient care and patient outcomes, ensure secure access to information, and enhance decision making within the organization.

The Master of Science Degree in Health Informatics (MSHI) offers the Health Information Management (HIM) Track that provides advanced knowledge and skills necessary for credentialed practicing professionals to interact and contribute to the implementation of electronic health record (EHR) systems in health care organizations, as well as in physician practices.

The HIM Track incorporates the domains of health data management, information technology and systems and organization and management into graduate HIM and existing Health Informatics (HI) courses. This creative curriculum allows graduates to understand the complexities involved in transitioning the paper based health record into the electronic environment based AHIMA’s Master’s Degree Competencies.
