Research:

Thomas’ current research focus involves examining the effects brown adipose tissue on metabolism and the potential role brown adipose tissue has on the development of obesity and type II diabetes.

Why did you come to UAB?

I chose to attend UAB because it grants me the ability to have my two favorite things in life: my family nearby and endless opportunities to advance the field of knowledge. There was no better fit in the world for me.

What are you planning to do after earning your doctoral degree?

After earning my Ph.D. I plan to apply for a position in academia or non-profit or pursue an entrepreneurial career to apply the knowledge I’ve gained throughout my studies.
