Research

As a part of her dietetic internship, Maggie completed the Baylor College of Medicine Neonatal Nutrition Fellowship, which sparked her interest in nutrition for premature infants. Maggie worked as a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit dietitian at the University of Kentucky HealthCare in Lexington, KY and Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, OR prior to coming to UAB to pursue a Ph.D. Her research interests include protein needs for premature infants, infant feeding practices in the neonatal intensive care unit and their relationship to body composition, and optimal feeding practices for the premature infant after discharge from the hospital.
