Alumnus/Alumna of the Year Award

The purpose of this award is to recognize a graduate of eight years or greater who embodies the School of Public Health's mission of promoting public health and preventing disease.

The Alumnus/Alumna of the Year Award recognizes an established graduate who embodies the School of Public Health's mission of promoting public health and preventing disease. Recipients of this award have demonstrated Involvement in public health-related activities outside work (e.g. beyond the call of duty), a high level of support for the school (i.e., time, money, recruiting, etc.), and are considered exemplary.

Eligibility

Established alumni that received an undergraduate or graduate degree from the School of Public Health at least 8 years ago. This award may be received only once.

Sponsor

The Alumni Committee oversees recipient selection for this School of Public Health award. Recipients will receive a plaque in honor of their achievement.

Alumni Award for Scientific Excellence

The purpose of this award is to recognize a graduate substantially involved in public health research and whose work reflects a commitment to improving population health.

The Alumni Award for Scientific Excellence recognizes an alumnus/alumna substantially involved in public health research and whose work reflects a commitment to improving population health. Recipients of this award will have made significant contributions to public health research as evidenced by National recognition of their accomplishments and scientific articles that illustrate the investigator's significant contributions.

Eligibility

Alumni that received an undergraduate or graduate degree from the School of Public Health. This award is not necessarily given each year. This award may be received only once.

Sponsor

The Alumni Committee oversees recipient selection for this School of Public Health award. Recipients will receive a plaque in honor of their achievement.

Distinguished Alumnus/Alumna Award

The purpose of this award is to recognize a graduate who has promoted the School of Public Health's mission of promoting health and preventing disease.

The Distinguished Alumnus/Alumna Award recognizes a graduate who has shown substantive commitment to the School of Public Health's mission of promoting health and preventing disease. Recipients of this award will serve as a source of inspiration to students, alumni, and other public health professionals and a source of pride for the School of Public Health and UAB.

Eligibility

Alumni that received an undergraduate or graduate degree from the School of Public Health. This honor is bestowed by the Dean and is not necessarily awarded each year. This award may be received only once.

Early Career Achievement Alumni Award

The purpose of this award is to recognize excellence in public health for alumni who have graduated in the last seven years.

The Early Career Achievement Alumni Award recognizes excellence in public health for a recent alumnus who embodies the SOPH mission of promoting public health and preventing disease.

Eligibility

Alumni that received an undergraduate or graduate degree from the School of Public Health within the last seven years. This award may be received only once.
