Dr. Olivia Affuso is an Associate Professor in the Department of Epidemiology at the UAB School of Public Health, an Associate Scientist in the UAB Nutrition Obesity Research Center and the Center for Exercise Medicine. Her new research focuses on understanding the role of the social environment in the promotion and sustainability of physical activity in women and girls, particularly those from underrepresented groups. She has received funding for her research from the National Institutes of Health as well as the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Dr. Affuso is also a 2016 TEDx/TEDNYC Speaker, and an ultra-distance trail runner.
