Congratulations to Dr. Peter Hendricks, Associate Professor in the Department of Health Behavior, on being awarded the SOPH’s 2019 Distinguished Faculty Award.

The Distinguished Faculty Award award honors faculty who have made significant achievements in research and scholarly endeavors. Peter is very deserving of this award, based on his research productivity, including a recently awarded R-01 on “Early Withdrawal Exposure and Negative Affect Withdrawal (NAW) Regulation Training for Smoking Cessation.” This grant will incorporate strategies to regulate withdrawal symptoms (anger, anxiety, etc.) into a smoking cessation intervention in adults who would like to quit smoking. Dr. Hendrick's work was featured in ASPPH’s Friday Letter this spring.

This award was made upon the recommendation of the SOPH’s Research Advisory Committee, advisory to the office of the Associate Dean of Research. Dr. Hendricks will be honored with a reception on October 7th at 3pm, merging with our next scheduled “research celebration” to follow the NIH submission cycle.

In the spring (2020), Peter will provide a research presentation during Public Health Week.

Congratulations Dr. Hendricks!
