For professionals working in the public health field, an MPH degree is the most direct way to advance, take on new roles, and earn a higher salary. For those working with expectant mothers, newborns, or young children (such as public health nurses in maternity or pediatrics), or who wish to make a change to that area, a master’s degree in maternal-child health is well in reach. A growing number of public health schools are developing fully online master’s programs in maternal and child health, while still more offer hybrid programs (with a mix of online and on-campus courses) or low-residency options (with short, on-campus intensive courses).

UAB offers maternal and child health programs covering the whole range of advanced education in public health, including UAB’s online MPH in Maternal & Child Health Policy & Leadership program. The program is partially funded by the federal MCH Policy & Leadership Program grant. For students who already have their bachelor’s, have been working in public health for a while, and are ready to take their career farther, University of Alabama Birmingham’s maternal and child health programs has what it takes to make graduates an irreplaceable asset to any public health organization.
