Susan Beard Brouillette, MBA, MPH, who serves as Chief Executive Officer of Alacare Home Health & Hospice, was named “One of Birmingham’s Most Influential Executives for 2018” by the Birmingham Business Journal. According to Birmingham Business Journal, “she leads one of Birmingham’s largest private companies – a business that is poised to capitalize on the nation’s shifting demographics.” She served as an inaugural member of the UAB School of Public Health in 2016, and received the 2012 School of Public Health Alumna of the Year award.

Brouillete has served as CEO of Alacare since 2002. Her leadership has led to Alacare being recognized by the Birmingham Business Journal as one of the area’s "Top 100 Privately Held Corporations". Alacare is also on the Birmingham Business Journal list of the largest women-owned businesses in the Birmingham area. In 2002, Brouillette was honored as one of the Birmingham Business Journal’s “Top 40 Under 40,” and in 2006, she was recognized as one of the “Top Women in Business in Birmingham.”

In November of 2010, Brouillette received the Stevie Award for Best Executive, an honor given by the Stevie Awards for Women in Business. This international competition, produced by the creators of the prestigious American Business Awards, recognizes the accomplishments of outstanding women executives and entrepreneurs.

Brouillette is very active in the Birmingham business community. She is an active member and past president and treasurer of the Shades Valley Rotary Club. She serves on the Board of Directors of the Hospice and Home Health Fund of Alabama, Alacare’s non-profit organization. As well as serving as a Board member of the American Cancer Society Mid-South Division. In 2006, she was the co-chairperson of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Alabama Founders Dinner, which raised funds to build a new house for critically ill children and their families to stay in during treatment.
