There will be a strong UAB presence planned at the upcoming AIDS Impact Conference in London, July 29-31. This is an international conference focusing on psychosocial and behavioral aspects of HIV prevention and treatment, that is widely attended by HIV researchers and NIH program officers. AIDSImpact is an international behavioral and psychosocial science conference that addresses issues related to HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment and care, focusing both globally and on specific communities and countries hardest hit by the HIV/AIDS epidemic. AIDSImpact first convened in Amsterdam in 1991. Now, in 2019 the 14th AIDSImpact conference will be held in London, UK.

Dr. Janet M. Turan, Interim Director of the UAB Public Health Sparkman Center for Global Health will give a plenary talk on intersectional stigma on July 30th. There is also UAB involvement as presenters or co-authors on 2 oral poster presentations and 6 oral presentations. Public Health faculty, postdocs, and students from the SOPH are represented.
