EHAC accreditation is awarded to programs that demonstrate excellence in environmental health education and prepare graduates to address complex environmental and occupational health challenges through science, practice, and leadership.

The accreditation recognizes the strength of UAB's curriculum, faculty expertise, applied learning opportunities, and commitment to preparing the next generation of environmental health professionals. Students in both programs gain knowledge and skills related to environmental exposures, occupational health and safety, environmental justice, risk assessment, exposure science, and disease prevention.

A key benefit of EHAC accreditation is that students in UAB's MPH and MSPH Environmental Health programs are eligible to participate in internship opportunities offered through the National Environmental Health Association (NEHA). These experiences provide students with practical training, professional mentorship, and direct exposure to environmental health practice in a variety of settings.

Through classroom instruction, research opportunities, and field experiences, students apply evidence-based approaches to real-world environmental and occupational health issues. Graduates are prepared for careers in government agencies, industry, consulting, academia, nonprofit organizations, and public health practice.

EHAC accreditation further strengthens the UAB School of Public Health's mission of advancing health through education, research, and service while preparing professionals to address emerging environmental health challenges and promote healthier communities.
