Components of a GHCC

Information Sessions
Information Sessions are an opportunity to hear from Sparkman Center & Lister Hill Center staff about how the competition works and get your questions answered before putting your team together.
Participation in an Information Session is not mandatory in order to register for the competition, but we highly encourage you to join
We will have two information sessions this fall: Thursday, October 29th from noon-1pm and Monday, November 9th from 10-11am. Hope to see you there! -
Team Registration
Students can sign up as individuals or as a team. To register as a team, gather 4-6 representing at least 3 UAB schools.
Examples:
- 1 graduate SOPH student, 3 undergraduate SOPH students, one School of Engineering, and 1 Collat School of Business student
- 2 graduate SOPH students, 2 SOM students, 1 CAS student

Registration will open November 9th. To register you will need the name, email and major/school of each team member. Also come up with a team name! Designate one member as your team captain. That person will share their cell number so we can text updates the day of the competition.
We will email you a confirmation that your team registration is complete.
If you want to register as an individual and be placed on a team, follow the instructions to fill out the form below. We will do our best to arrange teams for individuals. Team registration gets first priority. -
Faculty mentors
Each team competiting will be assigned a UAB Faculty member as a mentor that they can consult for up to one hour during the case competition week.
Team captains will receive an email connecting them to their assigned mentor in mid to late January. It is imperative that teams reach out to schedule a meeting time with their mentor as soon as possible in order to respect the time that Faculty members are offering to support you in the competition. -
Case release & competition week
The case will be released via email to the team captains on Monday, February 1st in the morning. View examples of past cases & winning presentations here.
From that point until the end of the competition, teams cannot discuss the case topic with other competing teams or professors at UAB that are not their assigned mentor.
Teams can (and are encouraged to) consult with academic sources through UAB libraries or other sources to support the development of their response to this year's case. All sources should be properly cited in the final presentation. -
Competition Day
Teams present their proposals during a 15 minute presentation on Saturday, February 6th to a panel of judges followed by a 10 minute Q&A from the judges.
The 3 finalists teams will be announced at a luncheon following the presentations. Finalists will then present again to the full panel of judges and winners will be announced after.
Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three teams.
1st Place Team-- $1,500
