INSIGHT Fogarty Information Session

The INSIGHT consortium is now accepting applications for the 2022-2023 NIH Fogarty Launching Future Leaders in Global health Research Training program! This opportunity supports mentored research training in global health for eligible U.S doctoral candidates and U.S. and LMIC postdoctoral (MD, MD/PhD, ScD or equivalent degree) fellows. Successful applicants spend up to 12 months abroad at one of 24 affiliated institutions across 20 countries, where they gain experience conducting research in international settings.

Dr. Tina Kempin Reuter is the Director of the Institute for Human Rights (IHR) and professor at UAB, specializing in human rights, peace studies, and international politics. Dr. Courtney Andrews is the Researcher at the IHR who focuses on the intersections of culture and biology with special attention to health disparities in marginalized and vulnerable populations. In this seminar they discuss their work from the 2019 Sparkman Center Pilot Project grant, which focused on the health situation, access, and inclusion of persons with disabilities in Lima, Peru
