Student Experience

Looking to find your place in UAB’s Greek community? Join Student Involvement and Leadership’s Fraternity and Sorority Life this January at two events crafted especially for students interested in the Greek life experience.

Greek Speak, hosted by the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC), takes place Wednesday, Jan. 19 at 6:30 p.m. This event allows students to meet with NPHC chapters to learn more about their requirements and opportunities. Fraternities will gather in the Hill Student Center (HSC) Ballroom D; Sororities will gather in HSC Ballrooms A, B and C.

The NPHC consists of fraternities and sororities collectively referred to as the “Divine Nine.” Each organization has a rich history of working towards the betterment of the African American community.

The Spring 2019 MGC Kickoff is Thursday, Jan. 17 at 7:30 p.m in the HSC Performance Lounge. Chapters will each showcase their features, discuss membership requirements and perform a short stroll or step.

The Multicultural Greek Council (MGC) is a coalition of inclusive Greek chapters, the only MGC in the state. UAB’s MGC organizations emphasize South East Asian interests and Latina culture, but they are open to other groups as well. MGC primarily strives to promote unity and empowerment among the greater fraternity and sorority community.

Both chapters of the NPHC and the MGC offer students chances for service, scholarship and leadership.
