Student Experience

LGBTQ students and faculty to be recognized at Lavender Celebration Save the date for Student Multicultural & Diversity Program’s Lavender Celebration on Thursday April 27 at 6 p.m in the Hill Student Center Ballroom. This annual spring event is hosted to recognize LGBTQ undergraduate, graduate and professional students for their contributions to UAB’s campus, success in graduating and additional academic achievements. Awards will be presented to current and graduating students along with UAB faculty and staff.

The Lavender Celebration awards include:

  • Glenda Elliott LGBTQ Advocacy Award
  • Lavender Leadership
  • Lavender Inclusion Award
  • Inclusive Research & Imitative Award

In addition, the department will honor Glenda Elliott, Ph.D., a retired UAB faculty member and Associate Professor Emerita of the UAB Counselor Education program. Elliott will be presented with an award for her incessant commitment to the LGBTQ community.
