Blazers parade the magic city

Once again, the streets surrounding UAB campus were flooded with green and gold for the annual Homecoming Parade. 

Simona Shirley, freshman in biology, said she has been enjoying her first homecoming at UAB even amidst the stress of midterms. She 
found her favorite part of the whole week to be the annual parade. 

“[Homecoming has] be
en awesome,” she said. “This is my first homecoming at UAB and I really like it!”  

The Homecoming parade took place at noon, October 19, with a crowd of spectators looking on the sidelines. Starting on 14th Street, parade floats made their way around campus, circling back to the starting point at the endCampus departments, student organizations, and affiliates of the UAB community waved and tossed treats to the crowd to help continue the excitement.  

Participants road in vehicles decked out with artwork of imageany Blazer would be familiar with like Blaze the Dragon or the Magic City sign at the Rotary Trail. Floats were created in part of a competition where those whose floats showed the most creativity, effort and Blazer spirit would award for best display.
