Luckily, UAB students have a variety of options available when it comes to watching movies for free or discounted prices.

 

 

UAB Ticket Office

 

If you want to see movies when they are still in theaters, then you might want to check out the UAB ticket office. The ticket office offers discounts on tickets to the Patton Creek, Vestavia, Lee Branch and the Summit AMC Theaters or the Regal Cinemas in Trussville. Tickets to AMC Theaters cost $9.50 while Tickets to Regal Cinemas cost $10. If you want to see movies when they are still in theaters, then you might want to check out the UAB ticket office. The tickets must be purchased in person at the UAB One Stop on the first floor of the Hill Student Center. Payments can be paid using cash, Visa, MasterCard, American Express and BlazerBucks. If a form of payment other than cash is used, a valid form of photo ID is required.

Kanopy (kanopy.com) 

 

 

Kanopy is a free streaming service available through UAB libraries. Kanopy has thousands of movies free to stream. Kanopy promotes what they call “thoughtful entertainment” with a wide collection of indie wfilms, classic titles and documentaries.  Kanopy is a free streaming service available through UAB libraries. The service was founded in 2008. It partners with over 4,000 libraries worldwide to provide titles for patrons to stream.

 

 

To create an account, go to kanopy.com or find Kanopy in the UAB library database. Sign up using your email, Facebook or Google account and select UAB as your library. With a Kanopy account, you can access the service from the internet or Kanopy’s iOS, Android, Roku and Amazon Fire TV apps.

UAB Heat is the free streaming service offered by the UAB Student Housing and Residence Life. The service offers dozens of box office hits fresh from theaters. No account is required to watch, just go to the website. It can be accessed over UAB Secure wi-fi or UAB Resnet wi-fi.

Sterne Library DVDs

 

 

If you prefer a more analog way to watch, Mervyn Sterne library is home to an extensive collection of DVDs. DVDs are available for anyone with a BlazerID to check out. To check out DVDs from the library, go to the front desk and request what DVD you want. There is currently no way to browse. So if you want to check out a DVD, search the title that you desire on the UAB library website to see if it is offered beforehand.
