Pearson has served as an assistant coach for over two decades at Little Rock, Murray State, Alabama, and most recently under Mark Fox at Georgia.

During the 2008-09 season, Pearson served as interim head coach for the Crimson Tide coaching the team to a 6-7 record in 13 games.

"I have known Philip since my time as a player back in the early 90s,” Kennedy said in a press release from UAB Athletics. “Philip is a hard worker who will bring invaluable experience to our program in all aspects of the job."

Cross arrives in Birmingham from Louisiana-Monroe where he served as assistant head coach. He had been on staff since 2012.
