The final score of first game of the season ended with Alabama State 19 -24 UAB. The win was secured in the last 56 seconds by an interception made by Will Boler, #17.

UAB opened its 2019 College Football campaign in front of the third largest home-crowd in UAB Football history with 39,165 in attendance.

The Blazers went into their matchup with Alabama State University as 40-point favorites, however, the Hornets’ performance made the hosts undeserving of those odds.

After a hard-fought contest, the UAB defense was able to hold strong and secure the first win of the season.

Head Coach Bill Clark and the UAB Blazers travel to Akron, Ohio, to take on the University of Akron in their second game of the season. UAB’s next home game takes place September 21, when the Blazers host South Alabama.
