So, news broke earlier this week that during Sunday’s broadcast of the Super Bowl, cleaning brand Mr. Clean will be debuting a new model for their campaign. Mr. Clean has been the same man for the past sixty years, so it is definitely interesting to see a new face portray the model for the famous cleaning product. Plus, what better way to make his debut than during the 51st Super Bowl? This brings to mind the idea of what other famous campaigns and advertisements have gotten a boost with the airing of the Super Bowl.
Doritos has aired multiple commercials during the Super Bowl, some of them being very memorable, such as the one with a dog busting through a door to attack the man behind the door holding the bag of Doritos. That one actually was replayed multiple times following that Super Bowl.
One of the most hilarious (and most memorable) Super Bowl commercials was the advertisement featuring two babies talking through video chat. In the commercial, they used adult voice-overs, making it seems as though they were an adult couple arguing. This was actually a promotion for E-Trade and several more commercials with a similar premise wound up being produced after this one’s success.
There was also that commercial that aired during 2015’s Super Bowl starring Kim Kardashian. The advertisement, which was for the company T-Mobile, started off by making the viewers believe it was a charity-like commercial, by urging people to “Save The Data”. The commercial got a lot of attention and feedback, mainly due to the star power of Kim Kardashian.
Beer companies, such as Bud Light, and car companies, like Kia, are notorious for airing advertisements during the Super Bowl, which is smart because this means they’re thinking about their audience. It will be interesting to see what kind of hilarious, zany, and strange commercials will air during the Super Bowl this year. Super Bowl LI will air Sunday, February 5th, at 5:30 pm CT on Fox.
