Aura, the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s literary arts magazine, is proud to announce a creative writing competition. The Aura Creative Writing Competition invites high school and college students in Jefferson County to electronically submit their works in two categories: poetry and short story. There is no theme, so all subject matters are welcome as long as they fit in the aforementioned mediums.

Two winners will be selected in each of the categories; one in the high school category and one for college level. Each winner will receive a prize as well as the opportunity to have their work published in Aura’s 2017 Spring edition.

Complete the form below and upload your poem or short story to enter the competition. Submissions must be in .PDF, .doc, .docx format to be accepted.

The deadline for the competition is February 27th, 2017.
