Detailed equivalencies for various credits that UAB accepts.

  • Transfer Credits Transfer Credits

    You’ve worked hard for the credit hours you have. Get credit for your credits by transferring them to UAB and applying them to your future degree.

  • AP Credits AP Credits

    The Advanced Placement (AP) program exposes high school students to college-level material.

  • IB Credits IB Credits

    IB students can earn up to a year and a half’s worth of college credit with completed IB coursework. UAB offers credit for more than 40 SL and HL courses.

  • AICE Credits AICE Credits

    Students completing Advanced International Certificate of Education (AICE) examinations can have their results evaluated in subjects drawn from across the curriculum.

  • International Transfer Credits International Transfer Credits

    Students who have completed college level work in a country other than the United States are eligible to receive transfer credit if the institution is officially recognized by the respective Ministry of Education or governing educational body.

  • Credit by Examination Credit by Examination

    A degree-seeking student may petition to obtain credit for a course by taking an examination; however, not all programs will accept Credit by Examination.

  • Credit by Portfolio Credit by Portfolio

    A degree-seeking student may petition to receive credit for a course on the basis of a portfolio of information documenting knowledge of the course material.

  • Credit for Military Experience Credit for Military Experience

    UAB evaluates military service and educational experiences completed by active-duty military service and Coast Guard personnel. UAB is an institutional member of Service Members’ Opportunity Colleges.
