The First Impact Program, established in 2019, is designed to provide leadership opportunities for new freshman and new transfer students. This program is sponsoredby the Office of Student Involvement & Leadership. Students selected for this program will build peer relationships, learn about campus resources and involvement opportunities, develop basic leadership skills, and be mentored by executive leaders of the 4 student organizations below.

As a result of serving as a First Impact member within the Office of Student Involvement & Leadership, students will be able to:
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships.
- Develop an action plan that supports involvement while prioritizing wellness.
- Identify and apply personal strengths to achieve involvement goals.
First Impact Member duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Attend required biweekly First Impact Program workshops and mentor meetings on 2nd and 4th Tuesdays from 5:00-6:30 p.m.
- Attend one meeting and/or serve as a volunteer at one event per month hosted by the assigned organizations and participate in reflection activities.
- Participate in teambuilding and volunteer activities with the group.
Minimum Requirements for Freshman Applicants:
- 2.75 high school GPA required
- Must be a first-time freshman at UAB in the 2022 calendar year
- Must be enrolled full-time (at least 12 hours) for the entire 2022-2023 academic year
- Must submitan interest form andparticipate in the group interview process
Minimum Requirement for New Transfer Applicants:
- 2.5 cumulative GPA required
- Must be a new transfer student at UAB in the 2022 calendar year
- Must be enrolled full-time (at least 12 hours) for the entire 2022-2023 academic year
- Must submit an interest form and participate in the group interview process
