Recstravaganza will kick off on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at 4 pm. Students participating in the event will need to stop by our Check-In Table located in the lobby of the UAB Campus Recreation Center, where they will scan their ENGAGE Event Pass and receive their Recstravaganza Punch Cards.

Once Checked-In, each student will have the option to visit any of our Recstravaganza Activity Areas, where they will engage in various activities related to each the UAB URec programming or facility areas.

2nd Annual Recstravaganza Rubber Duck Race

During Recstravaganza, University Recreation will have a Rubber Duck Race in our Leisure River!

The Race will begin at 6:30 pm on October 26th. All Student Organizations, Groups of Students, UAB Departments, etc, are invited to "register" a duck to compete in the race.

The Guidelines are simple:

• Register your duck using this link by October 10th to ensure a race spot:

• Make sure you are in the URec Pool Area by 6:15 pm on October 26th
• You must have 1 representative from your student organization in attendance (but the more people cheering the better)
• No oversized or "giant" ducks. NO MOTORIZED DUCKS or any modified duck. URec staff will examine all ducks to ensure they are not modified. If we suspect modification, you will be asked to use a duck provided by University Recreation.
• Audience members are welcome to join us in cheering on the ducks but are not allowed to interfere with their travel down the river.

More Official Rules:

• Once ducks are launched, they are on their own, except URec staff reserves the right to free them if they get caught in vents or any other spots that are hindering their ride down the river.
• Decisions of the judges stationed at the finish line will be final.
• Winners will be announced at the end of the race
• Winners will be asked to stay after all the races are completed for a group picture!

Each student that participates in an activity within Recstravaganza will earn a stamp on there punch card they recieved at check-in. Students that earn the appropriate amount of stamps will then take their punch card back to the lobby to recieve a free t-shirt (while supplies last). Students will then take that same card to Court 1 in order to receive a plate for food. At the first table they will then submit their punch card to be entered into a drawing for 1 of 5 giveaways.
