According to the American Cancer Society, nearly 38 million Americans still smoke cigarettes, and smoking remains the single largest preventable cause of death and illness in the world. While over 80% of UAB students report never using tobacco, it’s important for all of us to understand how to support someone quitting tobacco use.

UAB Employee Wellness and UAB Wellness Promotion invite you to "Love Your Lungs" in honor of the annual Great American Smokeout. The Great American Smokeout is an event hosted by the American Cancer Society that has been taking place for the past 40 years. This annual event provides an opportunity for everyone to encourage people to use the date to make a plan to quit. "Love Your Lungs" and The Great American Smokeout challenge people to stop smoking and helps people learn about the many tools they can use to help them quit and stay quit.
