UAB Solar Decathlon

About the Decathlon

UAB is one of 12 collegiate teams from around the world selected to participate in the U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon 2017 competition — a collegiate competition made up of 10 contests that challenge student teams to design and build full-size, solar-powered houses. The winner of the competition is the team that best blends design excellence and smart energy production with innovation, market potential, and energy and water efficiency. Simply put, there’s nothing else like it.

Support the Team

Solar Decathlon is a massive undertaking. The UAB team is counting on hundreds of man hours from students, faculty, and staff, but a successful Solar Decathlon experience will also require significant community support.
