Are you proud to be a Blazer and involved in campus activities? Do you enjoy sharing bits of your daily life on Snapchat and Instagram Stories? If the answers are yes, we have a unique and fun opportunity for you to gain professional social media marketing experience before graduating! The UAB social media team is looking for UAB Explorers - student social media influencers who will tell the story of the UAB brand by offering a behind-the-scenes glimpse at life on campus.

Goals:

  • Help potential students sample the UAB college experience
  • Help current students find resources and services available to them on campus
  • Create unique and uplifting conversations about the UAB brand
  • Create awareness of UAB campaigns and events to drive participation

Eligibility:

  1. Minimum of 3.0 GPA
  2. Full-time student
  3. Minimum of two semesters remaining prior to graduation at the beginning of Spring Semester 2020
  4. Public Instagram profile, ambassador status in bio
  5. Commit to serve for a one semester term with the possibility of renewal  
  6. Please follow @exploreuab

Responsibilities (one piece of usable content per week):

  • Sharing UAB's posts with your following and adding commentary 
  • Creating relevant organic posts and tagging @exploreuab
  • Share "A Day in the Life at UAB"
  • Meet with Social Media Team once a month in-person or virtually 
  • Attend UAB Events 
  • Host Facebook Lives when needed 

Compensation: $500 per semester, free UAB swag, free tickets to UAB events

Events that will typically need coverage include Move-In Day, Blazer Welcome Week, International Festival, Creed Week, Blazer Splash, Stress Less Week, Homecoming Week, Athletics events, and Career/Involvement Fairs, Other aspects to highlight: dorm tour, things to do in Birmingham, Q&As, etc. We encourage you to get creative!
