Lawrence Moose serves as the UABTeach Fiscal Officer. He has worked in project/program administrative positions in non-profit organizations and higher educational institutions for over 20 years, and joined UAB in June 2006. Prior to signing on with UABTeach in May 2014, Lawrence managed the UAB Center for Cyber Security and Joint Forensics Research, a university-wide interdisciplinary research center focused on cyber security and research.

He began his tenure at UAB as the project manager for the Greater Birmingham Mathematics Partnership. This large-scale mathematics education project involved 11 local participating school districts, well over a thousand teachers, more than a hundred schools, and was funded by awards from the National Science Foundation amounting to more than $12 million.

Before UAB, Lawrence served as program director for the AmeriCorps Pinellas (National Service) program at St. Petersburg College, in Pinellas County, Florida, putting college students into service roles with local law enforcement agencies. Lawrence's professional career began at the American Red Cross in Miami, Florida. In his 8 years of service there, he worked in several different capacities including as coordinator of a vast emergency food distribution program and manager of the branch office in the Florida Keys. He also served in leadership positions on many disaster relief operations, including the relief effort after Hurricane Andrew.

Lawrence also works part time at the Center for Educational Accountability within the UAB School of Education. When not wearing one of his UAB hats, Lawrence spends most of his time either being the taxi service for his 3 school aged kids or cheering them on from the sidelines of the soccer field, hoping (so far in vain) that one of them will eventually discover baseball.
