The Department of Medicine is delighted to celebrate Brittany Martin, clinical research administrator in the Department of Medicine’s Division of Infectious Diseases, as the latest winner of the DOM STAR Award for Staff Excellence.
Faculty, staff, and colleagues sent glowing nomination letters extolling Martin’s impressive contributions to UAB, both home and abroad.
Carolyn Bolton Moore, MD explains, "Brittany Martin has been managing the UAB side of my research program in Lusaka, Zambia at the Centre for Infectious Disease Research for several years. She has been proactive in understanding the challenges of conducting research abroad and has always gone above and beyond to ensure that I am kept abreast of developments and happenings at UAB that may affect me."
Martin’s colleague, clinical research administrator Holly Downing stated, "I have been profoundly impacted by her kindness and professionalism. Brittany is a much-needed asset to UAB and Infectious Diseases. So many people could learn by watching her daily in her professional life. She demonstrates exemplary work ethic – honesty, accountability, discipline, perseverance, and reliability. There could not be a better person for this nomination.”
“It is genuinely her goal to treat others with courtesy and civility regardless of their positions,” Aquila Brown-Galvan, a past STAR Award recipient, explains.
Martin's excellence has also been recognized by the UAB VIP Awards, noting her lasting impact on the fabric and culture of UAB. Much like the DOM STAR Award, VIP Honorees are nominated by their colleagues and selected by a committee of individuals from across the campus and UAB Hospital.
Congratulations, Brittany, and thank you for your wonderful contributions to global health and medicine!
