Getting this scholarship means more than just getting money; it shows that there are people who have faith in me. That alone is enough to convince me that persistence is the secret to success. Never give up on your dreams; only your motivation and perseverance can define success.

Throughout my high school career, I strove for excellence both academically and athletically in order to show balance and create a diverse skill set which I hoped would allow for opportunities for college scholarships. By being awarded this scholarship, it means that my hard work paid off. Now, I am taking every opportunity to continue to grow while here at UAB.

Receiving this scholarship is an honor itself in the simplest terms. I love my university and I am forever proud to represent it and its mission in anyway that I can while here as a student, as well as in the future as an alumnus. Being able to connect current students and the network of former graduates who will, in turn, help to raise the profile of the university is a special thing that I hope to further.

This scholarship has been a remarkable resource that has enabled me to focus more in the realm of academia. It has helped me to continue my educational journey by aiding in reducing financial barriers that hinders many students from pursuing additional education.

I am extremely grateful for this scholarship. I am proud to be a Blazer and plan to pay it forward by supporting other public health students.
