The UAB Drumline “Chop Shop” is for students on snare, tenors or bass drum. The clinic will be from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., with registration at 9:30 a.m.
Students should bring their own instrument and sticks for a full day of technique building, including a session with the 2021 UAB Drumline. The “Chop Shop” will feature group instruction and clinic sessions regarding many aspects of contemporary marching percussion, including warm-ups and exercises, technique building, “Mental Floss,” “chop-out” sessions, and more. Depending on the number and skill levels of applicants, the large group may be split into groups to facilitate more effective teaching strategies.
The clinic is open to the public and will be led by Assistant Director of Bands Gene Fambrough, DMA. Registration is $25 and includes lunch and a T-shirt; register online or before the clinic. It will be held in the UAB Hulsey Center for the Arts, 950 13th St. South. Visit UAB Percussion on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.
